Most guitar players want to learn to play the guitar better. A lot of players ask themselves the question how they can get better. But for a lot of people it also ends with asking this question. This article will describe how you can learn the guitar online and shape your skills as a guitar player to a higher level.
One of the most important elements in becoming a better guitar player advocated by experienced players and musical educators would be: Practice, loads of practice. Of course practice is a main element when lifting your skills as a guitar player, but it is not that black and white in my opinion. There are some other factors that will influence you as a guitar player. And in this era of information and internet, it would be an asset if you could learn to play the guitar better helped by online tools, right?
I will provide u with 4 tips that will help you become a better guitar player:
1. Inspiration and education
Ever witnessed the sensation of being inspired on a topic? Was educating yourself on that topic at that moment very hard? No it wasn't. That is, because when you are inspired, you get a mental energy boost and your mind WANTS to process information on the topic which inspired it. So find out what kind of things inspire you the most and experience them, over and over again. Maybe it is listening to certain music. Maybe it is going to concerts, watching movies or listening to the street musician around the corner. It doesn't matter what it is, make sure u experience more inspirational impulses and you will notice that after that experience, you will soak up educational material much, much easier.
2. Listen to music more
Browse youtube.com on music u don`t know. You can just type in the name of a guitar artist or band you like and then browse the suggestions given by youtube.com. As long as you keep clicking on suggestions, you will stumble upon new songs or music, songs in the genre you probably will like. Listening to this guitar music can also give inspiration as mentioned under tip #1.
3. Goal setting
You need a plan. This plan needs short-term and longterm goals. What is the ultimate goal you want to accomplish? Defining your goals in a clear (SMART) way will help u keeping track of your progress and is a great way to keep yourself on track. There are multiple free online tools for goal setting available. Use Google and find out which one will suit you the best.
4. Discipline
The only way to reach goals in playing guitar is discipline. All people can make up a list of things they want to accomplish, but to really accomplish these things, you also actually have to put plans into practice. When practicing, make sure you are focused on accomplishing your (short-term) goals that you defined. There is free software available on the internet to help you with focussing on tasks and set specific timeframes for specific tasks. If discipline is a weak spot for you, use one of these tools.
